Editing/Coaching: Alissa has more than a decades' experience in developmental editing, and is a managing editor for several book-length works.
She regularly consults with writers outside the classroom to help them develop ideas and projects, to be a set of professional eyes partway through or at the completion of a manuscript, or to otherwise assist a writer through the writing process. She's worked with writers developing short as well as longterm manuscripts, including grants, micro/flash pieces, novels, memoirs, fiction and nonfiction.
Alissa's approach is to develop the writing as well as the writer. You can expect a compassionate, positive and collaborative experience when working together in this capacity.
Teaching/Learning Experiences/Guest Speaking: Alissa teaches a variety of creative writing and literature classes throughout the calendar year, including a popular and long-standing Writer's Workshop.
She also offers independent, one-on-one learning experiences curated especially for individual writers. Topics explored can be anything from learning about the writing process, setting up a sustainable writing practice, the mechanics of grammar, or a deep dive into a writing topic you'd like to know more about.
Alissa is available to guest speak in person or through video conferencing to groups about many different writing-related topics.
If you are interested in working with together, or want to consult on a project, please feel free to get in touch!
