Getting Started Program:
Are you considering coaching, but don’t want to commit to a longer program yet? Haven’t worked with a coach before and want a taste of what it’s like?

Try out the Getting Started Program to see how coaching can benefit you!

The Getting Started Program is for you if:
You're new to working with Alissa, or you've worked with her before but not as a coach on your current project. This program is designed as an entry point—a way to experience what book coaching is really like and see how it can support your writing.

No matter where you are in your process—whether you're just beginning to shape an idea, stuck in the middle of a draft, or polishing something nearly finished—the Getting Started program meets you where you are and helps you find clarity and momentum.
Most writers begin their coaching journey here. It's the perfect way to get a feel for how coaching works and discover what's possible when you have the right support in your corner.
What you'll accomplish:
  • Gain clarity on your project – What are you really writing? A novel, a memoir, a story collection? We'll define it together so you can move forward with confidence.
  • Discover your "why" – Why does this story matter to you? Why does it need to exist in the world? Understanding this will fuel everything that comes next.
  • Receive detailed written feedback – Alissa will read and annotate a section of your manuscript, giving you professional insight into what's working and what could be stronger.
  • Identify what actually works for your writing process – We'll examine your current habits and rhythms to figure out what supports your creativity and what might be holding you back.
  • See the full scope of your project – Sometimes you're too close to see the whole picture. Together, we'll step back and look at where your project is headed and what it needs to get there.
  • Create a personalized roadmap – By the end, you'll have a clear, actionable plan for your next steps—whether that's continuing in coaching, revising on your own, or something else entirely.
This isn't just about feedback. It's about giving you the tools, insight, and direction to keep your story moving forward.
The program includes:
  • A Client Questionnaire to help Alissa understand your writing process, your goals, and where you are in your journey
  • Up to 20 pages of your manuscript with Alissa's detailed annotations and in-text commentary
  • Your choice of one additional submission:
-A completed Mini Blueprint for a Book worksheet (provided by Alissa), or
-A project outline or summary, with Alissa's feedback and commentary
  • A comprehensive editorial note that ties everything together—covering your manuscript pages, your outline or blueprint, and offering clear insight into what's working and what needs attention
  • One 45-minute coaching call to discuss your submission, talk through Alissa's feedback, and create a plan for what comes next in your writing journey
Everything you need to get unstuck, gain clarity, and move forward with confidence.
Investment:
1-3 working weeks. $250.

Discounts are sometimes available when this program is bundled with Book Foundations, 1:1 Coaching or other services.

All I knew when I first met Alissa was that I wanted to write a longer piece of fiction, but I had only vague thoughts of characters and what I wanted to say. But Alissa has a very structured, well thought out, and personalized plan with guidance and exercises, feedback, and timely one-on-one sessions. With her guidance I started creating pages and pages of key events from my life then started to develop characters and potential plot lines and character motivations and obstacles.
