Who are at every stage of the writing process
Who need longer-term support
Alissa coaches the following genres and forms:

Memoir/personal essay: short and book-length works
Why work with Alissa?
Alissa has more than a decade of experience in developmental editing, and is a managing editor for several book-length works. She is a certified Book Coach in fiction through Author Accelerator. She has also taught creative writing for many years, and is comfortable and familiar with many different techniques and tools to help writers get their work done.
She regularly consults with writers to help them develop ideas and projects, to be a set of professional eyes partway through or at the completion of a manuscript, or to otherwise assist a writer through the writing process. She's worked with writers developing short as well as long-term manuscripts, including grants, micro/flash pieces, novels, memoirs, fiction and nonfiction. She's also interested in helping writers navigate the pitching and publishing process.
Alissa's coaching and editorial approach is focused on clarity and compassionate critique. She brings to each project her love of writing and writers, as well as a deep understanding of craft. A big picture and detail-oriented thinker, you can expect to gain clarity of vision about your work through Alissa's guidance. Alissa combines the laser focus of an editor with the big-picture thinking of a coach to help clients identify what works and what could be stronger in their writing, and then creates a plan to help writers reach their goals. Most importantly, she believes that you are always in control of your story, your experience and your writing process—and she's there to cheer you on, every step of the way!
Writing can be a lonely endeavor. Having someone in your corner who can offer support as well as a deep understanding of craft can make all the difference in not just your manuscript, but in your overall writing journey.
Alissa cares deeply about the writers she works with, and about the integrity of their own visions for their work. Equity in and equal access to quality creative writing classes and resources are also passions of hers. She believes that everyone, everywhere should have the privilege of knowing their voice matters, and the chance to share it.
